SQSC 32 Falling in love with a color

Sometimes I am a little behind the times.  I think things over S L O W LY.  Savor ideas, roll them around in my head (my husbands description would be that they rattle), and then start to see that maybe they are pretty good ideas after all.  That is what happened with a new  Stampin' Up! In Color "Peach Parfait"  I just wasn't seeing it...until this Sketch Challenge came along.  I thought I would give it a try and ended up loving the combination.  While this photo is coming out slightly darker for whatever reason my computer decided to do, you will find that the combo works great. "Fabulous Florets" had been calling my name from the shelf and this was only an experiment as I wasn't sold on the color yet. I decided to watercolor using my ink pads and a blender pen.  Normally I use Shimmery paper for watercoloring but Very Vanilla was handy.  You cannot blend well on this paper but it made for a nice texture on the petals.  I went back in with the fine tip of Poppy Parade Stampin' Write marker and slightly blended to give more definition.  I am really happy with this.  Ok, so we all know what colors I will be working with this week.

I Love You Occasions

The new Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog is packed with new, very cool, tools, stamps, and accessories. The Hostess stamp set "Up in the Air" on page 5 is one of my favorites and I couldn't wait to make something with it.  This card was inspired by a creation I came upon by Nancy Littrell.  I loved her idea of hanging hearts from tree branches and as soon as I saw this stamp, I knew just what to do with it.  I don't trust my drawing a straight line so I used Stampin' Up!'s Piercing Mat Pack.  I love the additional texture along with the embossed hearts from the new "Fashionable Hearts" Embosslits Die on page 35 of the Occasions Mini. The sentiment is from the set "P.S. I Love You" on page 8.  All these supplies can be viewed and purchased at my online store by clicking HERE.

Sketch Challenge 3 Vintage Look

 

Cristena from Stampin' Queens Sketch Challenge has come up with another great challenge. (where does this girl get all these good ideas?!) I have felt inspired by the other design team members to get myself out of my designing box and use some paper that I had not really known what to do with.  I love everyone else's use...I just couldn't come up with my own.  Cristena's sketch pulled it all together for me.  Take a look at the Stampin' Up! designer paper "Beau Chateau".  Some of these sheets are perfect for scrapbooking but how do you use the large frame image in a card?  Remember, we are looking "outside of the the box" ;)   I even used the sentiment from one of the sheets. The stamped image from Welcome Christmas  is heat embossed in Stampin' Up!'s  Pewter found on page 31 in the new Holiday Mini Catalog released September 1st.  You can view and order from the Holiday Mini by clicking HERE.  Now onto to the sketch.  Let's see what you come up with and make sure to link your creation to Stampin' Queens Sketch Challenge Blog before Tuesday. Hexagon Box for a Friend

I was trying to come up with an idea for a little treat box for a friend and wanted to use some of my new goodies from Stampin' Up!  This was the first time playing with the Lace Ribbon Border Punch and I was surprised how easy it was :)  I can see the holiday ideas rolling right in.  This will be a good project for a mini stamp camp so be on the lookout. The box is made using two mini milk carton die cuts.  (this box idea is credited to: designs by Sunghee)

It has been so long since I have posted that you all probably thought I fell off of the earth.  Life got in the way but I am determined to share again.  Thanks for being patient.  I have had vertigo for a week now (it is like falling off of the earth) but could not let a wonderful sketch challenge go by without participating.  My dear friend Cristena Bagne over at gettincrafty.com has invited me to join her and others in creating cards from her design sketches.  Cristena is mega talented and I am so happy to be able to join in. This card is in memory of my Grandmother. Another Card from the upcoming Spring Class

I LOVE this technique!  This is the 3rd card design we will be making in the upcoming Spring Classes I am holding.  There are 3 dates and times for this class for your convenience.  Here are the details:
